I read somewhere that yoga is highly advisable for someone suffering from diabetes. Though it will not directly cure your disease, at least practicing it will result in a healthier lifestyle which will help you keep the diabetic symptoms under control.

I am not nearly flexible enough for yoga but I am working towards getting into a better routine for my own workouts. Right now its mostly cardio but I have noticed I am a little more peppy!

I didn’t know that yoga can help with diabetes. The reason could be that it enhances the flow of the blood making the body healthier. Are there other types of diseases where yoga can help?

That’s good to hear. I am undergoing a total health makeover and haven’t taken care of myself very well for years. I am not in very good shape, but I believe that yoga would be a great way to begin an exercise routine.

I have been doing Yoga for years and i swear by it. You don’t have to be flexible to do it. That is a misconception. Doing yoga will actually make you more flexible and there are all sorts of poses that beginners can do, even those who are not flexible. An alternative is Pilates, its like yoga with a cardio kick, I really like that one too.

I have actually just started a yoga routine in the past week or so. I have been having a lot of trouble with my back and I heard that yoga can really help with that.

Well, I just started pilates a few days ago after reading this thread. It’s more enjoyable than I thought. I picked up a DVD from the library and bought some resistance bands. I’ll keep you all posted on my progress.

I love yoga! I have been practicing yoga 2-3 times a week since my daughter was born and it has really helped me with some back pain issues I have had.

Glutenfree, I have actually never used the resistance band. I have always thought about it. I don’t know why i haven’t picked one up. I have been doing pilaties for what seems like forever. I should try getting one too. My fav thing about pilaties other than it works with out major pain is that it has made my posture so much better.

I think yoga is good for just about everyone. Even if you aren’t in very good physical shape or very flexible yoga can still help you get a good workout.

I second the poster who recommended yoga for everyone. It is a proven way to reduce everyday stress and easy for the previously inactive to take on and master. I know some people think it has to mean bending youself into strange shapes but it is so much more than that! Anything we can do for our health is great in my book.

I think that yoga is a great thing for anyone who has tried it. For me, yoga makes me feel better in general. It changes my mental mood and just stretches me all out. Yoga is a wonderful thing.

I used to do yoga all the time and I really do believe that it is very healing. I think it can really help your body heal itself or at least keep it from getting worse. I need to get back to it.

I like yoga because they say it acts as a detox and that is what makes yoga practioners healthier in general. I used to take a class but now I find I can manage fine at home. So long as you have enough discipline to keep it up it’s gonna keep on helping you.
