The general rule of thumb is 3 months. You could buy 3 months worth to take to college if you have somewhere to freeze them at. Have you considered not living in a dorm and living in shared housing so you can take your own freezer to leave there. Many of them have locks.
I don’t usually freeze things for more than a month or so. Usually things can stay good for 3 - 6 months, depending on what exactly it is you are freezing.
I have frozen things for a few months but it really depends on the freezer and the contents of the food. If you have it set too low things can get freezer burn. But if you rotate the food so the older ones don’t stay there too long you should be fine with 3 months.
There are quite a few low protein non dairy products that I found out you can freeze. Does anyone know how long you can freeze them for?
