I think it’s a great idea, why not try to be pro-active. Perhaps if you help him change his diet now it will help his blood sugar level. It will also get him used to the diet if he needs to go on it later.
You are right. It will also prevent his blood sugar to become very high for it to develop into diabetes.
My problem now is convincing him to reduce the amount of food he normally eats.
Cheryl has great points. Prevention is always better, easier and more cost efficient than cure. If it’s difficult for him to reduce the amount of food he usually takes, you can convince him to change the composition of his meal instead of the amount of it.
Changing the composition of food is a good idea. Much like me changing from meat to vegetables. But I think this is still hard to do. I will try to tell this to my brother if it will work on him. It is better for us to change our diets now than suffer the consequences in the future if we don’t stop our eating habits.
It is always better safe that sorry and I know a few people that have friends who worry about them, specifically soda drinkers. It seems in the past 20 years more and more soda has came out that just floods the market of people that want sweet stuff. How easy it is to go from being a soda drinker to a diabetic?
My brother is not yet on the condition where his diet will be measured. But I’m concerned because his blood sugar is steadily rising. Do you think it is good to start measuring his diet even though he is not yet diagnosed with diabetes?
